Linguist, a distinguished professor at the University of Turin, he set new methods for the study of linguistics. He elaborated numerous treaties, including: Introduzione alla neolinguistica (“Introduction to neolinguistics”), Breviario di neolinguistica (“Breviary of neolinguistics”). In collaboration with Vidossi and Pellis he founded the monumental “Atlante linguistico italiano”.
