The European Cemeteries Route has been recognized with a Special Jury Award within the 2011 Ulysses Award that the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) awards annually.

On June 2, 2011, Dr. Brent Ritchie handed the UNWTO Ulysses Award to ASCE’s Vice-President, Ms.Lidija Pliberšek, in recognition of its project ‘European Cemeteries Route’.
