The Aromas Itinerarium Salutis Association – The European Route of Historic Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens invites you to participate in the 3rd European Symposium on Drugs & Colors.
Taking place from November 11–14, 2026, in Palermo, Italy, this interdisciplinary event explores the cultural legacy of materia medica through history, art, and ritual.
Why participate?
This symposium is a unique opportunity for ASCE and European Cemeteries Route members to bridge the gap between funerary heritage and the history of medicine.
We are specifically looking for contributions that explore:
- Materia medica through the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe: a thousand-year-old mosaic of paths, traditions, and voices;
- Mapping Hygeia’s heritage sites in Europe: ancient pharmacies, medicinal gardens, archaeological excavations, museums, and university collections;
- Materia medica in the arts and ritual: colors, spices, fragrances, and living practices.
