The Week of Discovering European Cemeteries 2026 will be held May 22–31, highlighting cemeteries’ role in supporting and promoting quality education.

As part of the ASCE initiative Significant Cemeteries for Sustainable Europe, WDEC 2026 aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. This year’s theme highlights how cemeteries can become meaningful spaces for learning, reflection, and cultural exchange.

ASCE members are invited to develop creative and educational activities — from guided tours and exhibitions to workshops and digital projects — that emphasize the importance of education and knowledge in building a more sustainable future, and explore the role cemeteries can play in this process.
