The theatre actress Zlata Rodošek grew up in Serbia, where she attended the secondary school in Novi Sad and came into contact with theatre for the first time. In 1940 she enrolled in a Germanic studies programme at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. During the war she worked as an extra in minor roles in the Ljubljana Drama plays. After the war, when theatre ensembles were being formed, she decided to work for the Slovenian Permanent Theatre in Trieste, where she worked until her retirement in 1981. In her career she portrayed about 200 characters. In addition to the theatre, she also appeared in a range of film, radio and television roles.
