We are a non-profit association established in 2013 whose main goals are promoting the knowledge of the cemetery and restoring monuments and tombs.

We are also researchers and as of today we have published two guide-books and five volumes about the Monumentale.

We are enthusiastic supporters of Milan’s open-air museum and organize traditional and themed walks. We have a wide range of topics to choose from (i.e. heroes, illustrious men and women, angels, maternity, to name but a few), in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. Our walks will tell you stories and achievement of people buried and artists who realized their monuments and tombs.

About our cemetery work

Amici del Monumentale di Milano is entirely made up of volunteers to assist the municipality and Milanese institutions in the protection, preservation and promotion of the Monumentale.

Our work includes educational activities for schools and colleges, lectures and conferences at Third-Age Universities, museums, small and large libraries, bookshops, associations; an inventory of thousands of monuments and tombs with an exhaustive photographic documentation; researches carried out in the historical archive of the cemetery and in other city archives; a restoration workshop inside the cemetery, with the participation of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts for stone monuments and Battaglia Artistic Foundry for bronze sculptures.
