Mušičev’s Žale – PST

PST – the Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship or the Trail Along the Wire is a 32.5 kilometre long circular walkway around Ljubljana. It follows the alignment of the barbed wire fence that during the Second World War (between the years 1942 and 1945, that is until the end of the war) separated the city from its surroundings. The trail leads through the suburbs that surround Central Ljubljana. The beginning of the trail was left to individual decision. There are 102 memorial stone signposts along the trail, installed with the funding of various companies based in Ljubljana. Six monuments mark the locations where the trail is crossed by the city’s main arteries. During the war, the circumference of the city was smaller, therefore certain sections of the trail now cross residential neighbourhoods. The Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship presents exceptional city infrastructure that enables the citizens of Ljubljana to enjoy summer and winter outdoor recreation – when the blanket of snow is thick enough, cross-country skiing tracks are provided at some of its sections.
