He was the first Zagreb fencing instructor and the first person ever buried on Mirogoj. His funeral was held a day after the opening of the cemetery. He died of gas poisoning, as he forgot to shut down a valve. A lot of people attended the funeral, as Singer was a widely popular and loved person.
